Our Company Values: Family

Exploring the foundational pillar of family in our company's culture and calling

Revelations was founded upon the principles of family systems theory; from our first connection at birth, we are relational beings eternally seeking both identity and intimacy.

This article is a focus on the significance of “Family”—and the second of our four company values that foundationally underpins our mission.

In a previous version of Guy’s Desk, I have summarized our company’s value of Faith and its essential contributions to our mission of whole-health service delivery, as well as towards individual resilience and self-determination. A focus on Family shifts our attentions from individual self-awareness to the deep-seated relational needs of our customers and our colleagues.

In Italy, they say, ‘La famiglia è tutto!’—meaning, family is everything! Our relational identity, which is our need to form emotionally intimate connections with others, is deeply rooted within our soul and spirit. My recognition of the family’s powerful role in influencing our psychological health and identity became apparent early in my studies to become a counselor. Ultimately, it was the reason I decided to specialize in family therapy.

I don’t often quote Aristotle, but he was right when he wrote, “The family is nature’s established association for the supply of mankind’s everyday wants.”

What I have come to understand in my study of healthy functioning families is that it is an archetype for every organization with a service-oriented mission, and essential for the inspirations that promise meaning and purpose. A strong family system communicates authentically, encourages others, and cheerfully provides love and support to its other members. They also share a set of values and goals, including trust, respect for one another, and the skills to quickly resolve conflicts.

Who doesn’t want to belong to that kind of family? Moreover, shouldn’t these attributes also define the highest aspirations within the ranks of Revelations? When a family is on the move and moving in unison, no goal is beyond its reach.

In November 2025, we held a Leadership Summit in Fredericksburg that included all of the company’s Program Managers, Deputy Program Managers, Operations Managers, and other leaders. What was fully apparent to me was the commitment of every leader in attendance to foster this aspirational value that will “place family first.” Moreover, it remains my intention that it should not only extend to our employees’ families at home, but will also include their families at work—in every corner of our operations, our goal is to ensure every employee is seen, heard, and appreciated for the important work they do in lifting others up. I believe that when we promote this value internally, it will absolutely manifest in the same spirit of humble communication, encouragement, support, and conflict-resolution skills that will fully shine upon every customer entrusted to our care.

In this coming New Year, I hope you will make fresh resolutions to grow in healthy family relationships, as well as with your real (not virtual) social networks, and with us in the Revelations Family. Family is indeed everything—and within it is where you will surely Discover Your Best!
