Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Revelations Counseling and Consulting. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Science in Counseling at California State University in Fullerton, and completed her residency in group homes for adolescents.

Amy served as the primary licensed therapist for a therapeutic group home in Arkansas for teenaged girls, and then for a boys’ house at a residential treatment center for adolescents. In 2014, Amy received the Elbert H. Leigh Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice at Youth Home, Inc., in Arkansas.  Amy was also previously licensed in Kansas, where she worked in a community mental health center, treating clients of all ages and with a variety of presenting issues, cultural backgrounds, and diagnoses.   She has recently returned to clinical practice after several years as a stay-at-home mom.

Amy primarily utilizes family systems therapy, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral interventions in her treatment approach. She also has basic training in TheraPlay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), expressive arts and sand tray therapy as well as significant clinical experience working with children and teenagers with oppositional tendencies and/or unwanted sexual behaviors. Amy has advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), having previously achieved and maintained national certification in this specialty.

Having experienced brain surgery as a teenager, Amy’s clinical interests are greatly influenced with the interaction of cognition/executive functioning skills, emotions, physiology, and relational functioning. She remains a student of the evidence-based practices in neuroscience and neurocognitive health that show promise in strengthening previous impairments in each of these functional domains.
